Private Lessons
Dear Band Parents & Students:
There has been a great deal of interest expressed in the private music instruction program this year. We want to be sure that every parent and student in the band program understands the value and purpose of taking private lessons on an instrument.
1). Private lessons give a student an opportunity to learn from a specialist on her/his instrument.
2). Private lessons allow every child to move at an optimal pace because they are structured to his/her individual needs.
3). Private lessons help an unmotivated child to practice and put forth more effort.
4). Private lessons offer insights and experiences on a musical instrument that are not available in a classroom of 30 or more students.
5). Private lessons can make the difference! Many parents worry about their child being involved in a new school setting without the benefit of being in a healthy group activity. Band is a great activity! Private lessons can help your child become successful in band!
6). The benefits of private study have allowed many students at the middle school level in our district to achieve individual recognition at the district level as members of the All-Region Band. Later on, as members of either the Rockwall High Orange Wave Band or the Rockwall Heath Mighty Hawk Band, students regularly achieve recognition at the area level as members of the high school All-Region Band, and at the state level, as members of the Texas All-State Band. They will become the leaders of the Wolf Band today and the leaders of their high school bands tomorrow!
Much careful attention is directed towards acquiring the very best private instructors for our band students. Most of these teachers have degrees in music and many participate actively as performers in the Dallas area. The private instructor, once notified that you are interested in lessons for your child, will contact you to arrange a mutually convenient lesson time. However, you are also more than welcome to download the contact list at the bottom of the page and contact the appropriate teacher yourself to ask more questions. There is a small cost involved to participate in the private music program. Lessons are $16.00 per lesson and are held at the Utley MS Band Hall Monday through Thursday after school. Current Utley Band students could also have the benefit of taking their lesson during the school day.
